My Favorite Stops Hikone Castle and Fushimi Inari
My Kansai trip was packed with historical spots, but two places stood out for their incredible beauty and tradition: Hikone Castle and Fushimi Inari Taisha. They were a huge source of wellness for me!
First, Hikone Castle in Shiga Prefecture. Climbing to the original keep, I was moved by the castle's sturdy structure and history. Overlooking Lake Biwa, the architecture's enduring stability and timelessness was awe-inspiring—a powerful mental reset.
The experience at Kyoto's Fushimi Inari Taisha was also exceptional. The thousands of vibrant red torii gates create an unbelievably beautiful, endless tunnel. Walking slowly along that repetitive path was a genuinely meditative experience. It was so visually absorbing that I could only focus on the present moment, which perfectly melted away my travel stress.
If you visit Kansai, let these profound traditions move you.
