Pure, Untouched Nature in Miyazaki
When I planned my trip, I was searching for a place with history and incredible nature, and Takachiho in Miyazaki Prefecture delivered a truly mythical recharge.
The highlight, without a doubt, was the Gorge. Paddling a little boat down the deep canyon, dwarfed by the sheer cliffs and seeing the waterfall cascade right next to us felt utterly surreal—like I'd slipped into a beautiful, ancient myth.
But the real magic happened at dawn. I woke early to catch the sea of clouds (Unkai) rolling over the mountains. Watching the sunrise paint that misty view in gold and pink was simply breathtaking. Later, visiting Amanoiwato Shrine, the silent cave and thousands of stacked prayer stones felt profoundly sacred and peaceful. Takachiho isn't just a sightseeing trip; it's a powerful blend of dramatic nature and deep calm that perfectly refreshed my soul.
