Since its establishment in 661 by the founder of Shugendo, En-no-Gyoja, Inunakisan Shipporyuji has garnered deep faith of people all throughout Japan up to the present day.
During monthly public training days, anybody can take part in mountain and waterfall training together with real Shugendo practitioners (reservation required). Unlike many other Shugendo training grounds, which are bound by ancient rules to only permit men, Mt. Inunaki is open to everyone.
