It opened in 2002 as a facility of Jionzan Mandala Temple Kanzoin with the aim of spreading Buddhist teachings and developing local culture. It exhibits a collection of Buddhist paintings from Japan and Nepal, calligraphy in the ancient Indian script "Siddham script (Sanskrit)," Mithila folk paintings, miniatures, and more, with a focus on the Kanzoin Mandalas.
