Shizukudera (for reference)
Setouchi area
Shizukudera is a place where you can experience what Zen is through a variety of experiences, such as sipping a bowl of tea, contemplating calligraphy, tasting food that sustains life, washing away the grime of body and mind, and strolling through the garden.
The vast temple grounds are dotted with a 17th century building that was relocated from Shiga Prefecture, a restored teahouse by Sen no Rikyu, and a shrine office designed by architect and architectural historian Fujimori Terunobu, making extensive use of pine trees, a plant that symbolizes the area from the Sanyo Road to the Seto Inland Sea. Gardens are laid out to connect these buildings.
